ClickUp has unveiled its redesigned productivity platform, introducing new AI assistant features aimed at making the software a one-stop shop for work management. The release, known as ClickUp 4.0, builds on the company’s acquisition of enterprise search startup Qatalog, which brought valuable technology and over $29.5 million in funding from investors like Salesforce Ventures and Atomico.
The platform now includes two AI agents. The first works across all communication channels, proactively identifying questions and providing answers using both internal company knowledge and external sources such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Figma, and Gmail. The second, called Brain, is a general-purpose assistant capable of generating ideas, scheduling meetings, adding or creating tasks, analyzing reports, and even accessing web resources. Both assistants are fully integrated into the ClickUp interface, appearing in the sidebar for easy access.
ClickUp 4.0 also improves navigation between tasks, documents, and communications. Users can now switch seamlessly between different communication channels, view the internal forum timeline, and manage tasks directly from the sidebar. The goal is to combine calendar, task tracking, documentation, and enterprise search in a single platform, challenging competitors like Notion, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
The company has enhanced its communication tools as well. AI-powered summaries and live video and audio calls, called SyncUps, are now more integrated, with a SyncUp button in every channel. The AI notetaker can record calls, transcribe them, and automatically distribute meeting notes to participants. Meanwhile, the calendar can prioritize tasks and adjust meetings dynamically, helping teams stay organized and efficient.
ClickUp CEO Zeb Evans emphasized that the company’s vision has always been to replace multiple work software tools with a single, flexible platform. With AI now integrated deeply into the system, visualization and management of work have become even more critical. The company has achieved $300 million in annual recurring revenue and plans to go public within the next two years, after raising more than $537 million from investors including a16z, Tiger Global, and Lightspeed.
