Gonatodes of the southern Caribbean

Just wanted to share a few pics of some fascinatingly colorful geckos that I just returned from finding last week in the southern Caribbean. Hope you enjoy and mark them on your Christmas wish list!

I led a group of researchers who were interested in finding and studying the current status of G. daudini in the Grenadines. There has been some problems for people to find them, and I understand well how they live and find them to be very common - so, was hired for the job I also visited several neighboring islands in an effort to assess what other Sphaerodactylids were present. I then finished in Trinidad and Tobago and found all gecko species known from these islands, and we had permits to bring a few animals back.

Io ho capeggiato un gruppo di ricercatori che erano interessati a trovare e studiare l'attuale stato di G. daudini nelle Granadines. Ci sono stati diversi problemi per trovarli ma io ho capito bene come vivono e trovarli è stato molto facile - sono stato un killer per il lavoro Ho anche visitato molte isole vicine nel tentativo di valutare quali altri Sphaerodactylus erano presenti. Io poi ho finito il viggio in trinidad e tobago e ho trovato tutte le specie di geco conosciute su queste isole e abbiamo avuto il permesso di portare numerosi animali a casa.

Sphaerodactylus molei - femmina gravida

Sphaerodactylus kirbyi - maschio da Carriacou (trovato per la prima volta su quest'isola)

Thecadactylus rapicauda - maschio da Little Tobago

Gonatodes vittatus - una coppia trovata sulla roccia che si stava accoppiando (sono stato troppo lento per catturare l'attimo dell'accoppiamento)

Veramente interessanti anche le foto che ritraggono gli Sphaerodactylus, tutti gechi veramente interessanti, fare un viaggio di ricerca come il tuo dev'essere un'esperienza mozza fiato...ma prima o poi ti copio
